What is the definition of Innovation?

I once came across a great definition for the word definition:

"The wilderness of idea, trapped behind a wall of words". Just brilliant.

So here's an example of how difficult it is to create a great definition that everyone can use and then share.

Intelligence: Intelligence can be defined as strategically useful information; the kind of intelligence that intelligence agencies generate for the 'decison-makers' in government and the military, those smart contestants in game shows have it, the kind of intelligence we use every day to make choices, how business uses information to create direction. The capacity to acquire and apply knowledge. The faculty of thought and reason. Superior powers of mind.

And what about Innovation?

I'm finding that a very interesting one to define. How about this as a definition?

"An idea, technology, product or service that causes a marked [measurable] and improved class of solution, behaviour or mode of operation; one that achieves a fresh [new] cycle of increasing acceptance by its audience"
